2010 Knucklehead S&S K-Bob

Rare 50th Anniversary Factory Built Model

Serial #004 of only 24 Made & Only 1 With Flame Paint

Spectacular Brand New Condition Only 274 Miles

Will Cost Over $53,000 For S&S To Duplicate this Bike Today

Here is an extraordinary opportunity to acquire one of the rarest and most historically significant motorcycles ever produced by S&S Cycle:

The Only 2010 Flathead Power K-Bob with Its Original Flame Paint, serial number 004.

Created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of S&S Cycle, the K-Bob is a modern, hand-built interpretation of a stripped-down 1946 Harley-Davidson Knucklehead bobber. Only 24 examples were produced worldwide, and this fourth-production motorcycle is the only one fitted at the factory with its spectacular custom flame paintwork.

It has traveled just 274 miles from new and remains in immaculate, showroom-quality brand new condition.

Documented S&S Provenance

This K-Bob was purchased new directly from S&S Cycle by Chicago-area collector John Risley.

It has remained indoors and carefully preserved throughout its life.

The motorcycle is accompanied by exceptional documentation, including:

  • Original Flathead Power K-Bob owner’s manual

  • Original 2010 S&S Cycle presentation letter

  • Documentation identifying it as the fourth K-Bob built

  • Written confirmation that its flame paintwork was unique among the 24 produced

  • Original ownership and title documentation

  • Recent Kaplan Cycles service records

The S&S letter states:

“Congratulations for purchasing the fourth K-Bob motorcycle ever built by S&S Cycle. The flame paint we supplied with the bike makes your investment truly unique.”

The motorcycle is titled as a 2010 Flathead Power K-Bob. Its VIN ends in 004, corresponding with the accompanying S&S documentation identifying it as production number four.

The Flathead Power and S&S Story

Flathead Power became known for developing high-quality reproduction engines and components for early Harley-Davidson motorcycles. While developing its reproduction Knucklehead engine, the company and its tooling were acquired by S&S Cycle.

S&S brought the project in-house and completed the development of a fully manufactured reproduction Knucklehead-style engine. The K-Bob showcased that achievement while commemorating the company’s 50th anniversary.

For decades, S&S has been one of the most respected names in American V-twin performance, engine manufacturing and restoration support. The company designed and assembled the complete K-Bob motorcycle—not merely its engine.

This was a true limited-production S&S motorcycle built for an exceptional moment in the company’s history.

93-Cubic-Inch S&S Knucklehead Power

At the heart of the K-Bob is a 93-cubic-inch S&S-built Knucklehead-style V-twin rated at approximately 74 horsepower.

It combines the unmistakable appearance of a vintage Knucklehead with the power, precision and reliability expected from a modern S&S engine. Performance is considerably stronger than that of an original 1940s Knucklehead and compares favorably with later large-displacement Harley-Davidson Evolution-powered motorcycles.

Notable equipment includes:

  • 93-cubic-inch S&S Knucklehead-style V-twin

  • 74 horsepower

  • S&S carburetor

  • Crane electronic ignition

  • Free-flowing exhaust system

  • Kick starting

  • Period-style hand shifter

  • Foot-operated clutch

  • Hardtail frame

  • Sprung seat post with approximately four inches of travel

  • Passenger accommodations

  • Wide Wire-spoke wheels

  • Polished aluminum cylinder heads

  • Traditional external oil tank

  • Classic bobber styling

The “K-Bob” name is simple and appropriate: “K” for Knucklehead and “Bob” for bobber.

Its design recalls the stripped-down custom motorcycles built by returning servicemen following World War II. It has the stance, mechanical presence and character of a genuine period Knucklehead bobber, yet it runs and rides like a new modern S&S-built motorcycle.

Only 274 Original Miles

This motorcycle was acquired new by a serious collector and ridden sparingly. It currently shows just 274 miles, including a recent Kaplan Cycles road test following its comprehensive service.

The condition is exceptional throughout. The paint, chrome, polished aluminum, frame, wheels, engine and controls all present as one would expect from an extremely low-mileage motorcycle stored indoors since new.

It would be difficult to distinguish this motorcycle from a freshly delivered example.

Comprehensive Recent Service

Because of its age and extremely limited use, the K-Bob was thoroughly inspected and serviced by Kaplan Cycles technician Justin “Mr. Turbo” Harris.

Work performed included:

  • Removed and replaced the fuel lines

  • Installed new Motion Pro fuel lines and fuel filter

  • Removed and inspected the air cleaner

  • Removed and completely disassembled the carburetor

  • Cleaned the main and intermediate jets

  • Rebuilt the accelerator pump

  • Carburetor components professionally dipped and ultrasonically cleaned

  • Verified that all fuel passages were completely clear

  • Lubricated the choke mechanism

  • Reassembled and adjusted the carburetor to factory specifications

  • Set the fuel mixture, idle and accelerator pump

  • Set the Crane electronic ignition to factory specifications

  • Installed a new Yuasa battery

  • Installed a new 12-volt horn

  • Installed a new rear brake switch

  • Adjusted the primary chain to factory specification

  • Removed the primary cover and installed a new cork gasket

  • Tightened the rear hub fasteners

  • Drained and refilled the oil tank with premium Harley-Davidson 20W-50 motorcycle oil

  • Inspected the transmission oil level and condition

  • Adjusted the front and rear brakes

  • Inspected and tightened the brake mechanisms

  • Tested all electrical equipment

  • Compression-tested both cylinders

  • Borescope-inspected both cylinders they look perfect & new

  • Verified visible factory crosshatching and minimal carbon

  • Set both tire pressures

  • Adjusted the final-drive chain

  • Completed a full road test

The engine internals appear virtually new, with the original cylinder crosshatching still clearly visible. Compression tested properly in both cylinders, and the motorcycle starts easily, settles into a steady idle and runs exactly as it should.

A Genuine Limited-Production Motorcycle

This is not an assembled aftermarket custom or a home-built replica. It is a production motorcycle designed, manufactured, painted and completed by S&S Cycle.

It carries its factory VIN tag and is 50-state EPA-certified. The original S&S documentation verifies both its production sequence and one-of-one flame paintwork.

With genuine vintage Knuckleheads routinely valued well into the five-figure and even six-figure range, the K-Bob offers the appearance and character of an iconic American motorcycle with a substantially more powerful modern engine and extremely limited production history.

Its original price was $30,000 with its custom S&S-supplied paintwork. Recreating a motorcycle of this quality today would cost over 50k today—assuming S&S would even accept such a commission.

Investment-Quality American Motorcycle

To our knowledge, this is presently the only S&S K-Bob publicly available for purchase anywhere in the world. Many of the other 23 examples were reportedly exported, making these motorcycles exceptionally difficult to find.

Consider what this example offers:

  • One of only 24 produced worldwide

  • Fourth production K-Bob built

  • Only known example with factory-supplied flame paint

  • Just 274 original miles

  • Single collector ownership from new

  • Original S&S presentation letter

  • Original owner’s manual

  • Matching production documentation

  • Comprehensive recent mechanical service

  • Immaculate showroom-quality condition

  • 50-state EPA-certified

  • Ready to display or enjoy

This is an exceptional centerpiece for an S&S, Harley-Davidson, American V-twin or historically significant custom-motorcycle collection. It combines rarity, documented provenance, outstanding craftsmanship and an unmistakable visual presence.

God bless America.
