2009 HONDA CRF450R ROLLING CHASSIS
+ 1994 HONDA CR250R ENGINE
ALUMINUM-FRAME 250 TWO-STROKE CONVERSION PROJECT – $2,500
If you’ve been looking for the foundation to build your own aluminum-frame Honda CR250 two-stroke, here it is.
This package includes an excellent-condition 2009 Honda CRF450R complete rolling chassis along with a 1994 Honda CR250R two-stroke engine package. The previous owner’s plan was to install the legendary CR250R engine into the modern aluminum CRF chassis and build a serious custom Honda two-stroke.
The project was never completed, so the next owner gets to finish it exactly the way they want.
2009 HONDA CRF450R ROLLING CHASSIS
The CRF450R chassis is in excellent overall condition and provides a very clean starting point for a conversion.
It features:

New side number plates
-
New rear fender

The chassis presents extremely well and is ready to become the foundation of a killer CR250-powered aluminum-frame build or whatever else you want to use it for!
1994 HONDA CR250R TWO-STROKE ENGINE
Also included is a 1994 Honda CR250R engine package.
These original Honda CR250 components are becoming increasingly difficult and expensive to find. Good OEM engine cases alone can command substantial money today, making this a valuable engine package even before considering the rest of the components.
Engine features include:
-
Original Honda CR250R engine cases in good condition
-
Complete transmission in good condition
-
Original rebuildable Honda crankshaft
-
Original cylinder
-
Standard-bore cylinder currently suitable for rebuilding/machining
-
Keihin carburetor
-
Reed assembly
-
Clutch components
-
Cylinder cover and associated loose components included
-
Additional engine components included as shown
ENGINE CONDITION
The engine should be considered a rebuild project and is NOT being represented as ready to run.
The recommended build would include:
-
Rebuild or replace the original crankshaft
-
New main bearings
-
New crank seals
-
Complete gasket and seal set
-
Machine/bore cylinder as required
-
New piston
-
New piston rings
-
Inspect and service the clutch while apart
-
Inspect all internal components during assembly
The original crank is rebuildable, and the transmission is reported to be in good condition.
The package is missing the intake/reed boot, and a clutch-related washer was also noted as missing. Buyers should carefully review the photographs and video to verify exactly what components are included before purchase.
BUILD YOUR OWN ALUMINUM-FRAME CR250
The concept behind this project is simple:
Take one of Honda’s legendary 250cc two-stroke engines and install it into a later-generation lightweight aluminum CRF chassis.
Done correctly, the result can combine the explosive power, sound, simplicity, and character of the classic CR250R with the handling, suspension, braking, and ergonomics of a modern-generation Honda chassis.
The conversion fabrication has NOT been completed.
The previous owner planned to have the chassis professionally modified and mocked up for the CR250 engine. He estimated approximately $2,000 in fabrication work, although actual cost will depend entirely on the fabricator, specifications, and level of finish desired.
This is being sold as a project package, not a completed conversion.
WHY SELL IT?
The previous owner originally intended to complete the conversion with his son, but like a lot of enthusiasts, they accumulated more projects than they had time and budget to finish.
Rather than letting a great chassis and increasingly desirable Honda two-stroke engine continue sitting in storage, they decided to offer the entire package to somebody who will finish the build.
$2,500 FOR THE PACKAGE
For $2,500, you’re getting the basis for an extremely cool Honda two-stroke conversion without having to spend huge money buying a completed custom machine.
Source the remaining rebuild components, have the chassis professionally fabricated for the CR250 engine, and build it mild or wild.
Stock-style 250.
Ported engine.
Big-bore.
Full race build.
The direction is entirely up to the next owner.
We would prefer to sell the chassis and engine together as one package. However, serious inquiries regarding individual components may be considered.
PLEASE NOTE
This motorcycle is being sold as an unfinished custom project.
The CR250 engine requires rebuilding before use. The CRF450R chassis has not yet been modified to accept the CR250 engine. Custom fabrication, mechanical assembly, parts sourcing, fitting, tuning, and final inspection will be required before operation.
Please review all photographs and video carefully and ask any questions prior to purchasing.
