2002 HONDA XR100R

A Museum-Quality Original

Perfect Low Mileage Example With 148 PSI Compression

From The Jeff Cyr Collection In Showroom Condition

If you're looking for the nicest 2002 Honda XR100R available anywhere, you've just found it.

What you're looking at is another absolute gem from the legendary Jeff Cyr Honda Collection. Jeff spent roughly 20 years at Mickey Finn's Honda running the parts department after taking over the position I left in 1987. During that time, he assembled one of the finest collections of low-hour, original Honda motorcycles we've ever had the privilege of acquiring.

Sadly, Jeff passed away recently. We purchased this XR100R directly from his brother Tim and made it our mission to honor Jeff's legacy by bringing every motorcycle in his collection to the highest standard possible.

This XR100R is a perfect example of that effort.

An Incredible Original Foundation

Before any restoration work began, our technicians performed a complete mechanical evaluation, including a borescope inspection of the cylinder and piston.

The results were remarkable:

  • 148 PSI compression (new-bike specification)

  • Original cylinder still displaying visible factory cross-hatching

  • Original piston showing no wear & Extremely low carbon buildup

  • Clear evidence of exceptionally low operating hours

Simply put, this is one of the lowest hour XR100Rs we've ever encountered.

Take a close look at the photos and you'll see:

  • Original seat cover in outstanding condition

  • Beautiful original chrome

  • Mint chassis

  • Original Japanese-built quality throughout

These bikes were built during Honda's golden era of Japanese production and have earned a reputation as one of the most durable trail motorcycles ever manufactured.

Mechanical Service Performed

To ensure the motorcycle performs as beautifully as it looks, our service department completed the following:

  • Fuel tank cleaned

  • Carburetor professionally serviced

  • Airbox cleaned & New air filter installed

  • New Bel-Ray 10W-40 engine oil & New drain washer

  • Throttle cable lubricated and adjusted

  • Compression tested and verified at 148 PSI

  • New gold 428 chain installed

  • New Black JT sprockets installed

  • New axle chain adjusters installed

  • New Dunlop front and rear tires / New tubes / New rim strips installed

  • New Front & Rear Fenders

  • New Front & Side Number Plates

  • New Tank Shrouds & Graphics

  • New ODI smooth grips installed

  • New Renthal handlebars installed

  • New Renthal crossbar pad installed

  • New Shorty aluminum levers installed

The motorcycle starts easily, runs flawlessly, shifts perfectly, and rides exactly as a low-hour XR100R should.

Kaplan Cycles Rotisserie Detail Restoration

After mechanical servicing was completed, the motorcycle spent 19 hours in our professional detailing department receiving a Frame-Up Rotisserie Detail Restoration.

Work included:

  • Complete steam cleaning and hand detailing

  • Engine side covers refinished

  • Kickstand refinished

  • Exhaust removed, refinished, and reinstalled

  • Exhaust heat shield refinished

  • Lower engine cover vapor honed and clear coated

  • Swingarm refinished

  • Frame rails refinished

  • Footpegs refinished

  • Rear brake pedal refinished

  • Shift lever refinished

  • Kickstarter assembly detailed

  • Fork lowers refinished in correct Honda Cloud Silver

  • Rims polished

  • Every accessible nut, bolt, bracket, and component cleaned and detailed

  • Complete final reassembly and inspection

The result is nothing short of spectacular.

Investment in Restoration

This motorcycle received:

  • 25 hours of professional labor @ Shop Labor rate: $150/hour = $3,750

  • Plus Over $350 in parts and materials

  • = More than $4,100 invested in restoration and preparation

that's not including the hours Ken Sr spent acquiring, transporting, inspecting, test riding, supervising, and perfecting the motorcycle.

Was it financially sensible?

Probably not.

Was it worth it?

Absolutely.

This bike was restored as a tribute to Jeff Cyr and represents the level of quality we strive for with every special motorcycle that passes through our hands.
