The class of 2002 lives on in this absolutely stunning 2002 Honda CR125R—an OEM-style sleeper with a no-expense-spared race engine build and restoration performed by the master technicians at Kaplan Cycles. What appears at first glance to be a clean, stock CR125 is actually a fully built race machine with nearly $10,000 invested in the drivetrain and restoration alone. This is not your average vintage two-stroke—this is a hand-built, professionally tuned 125cc works bike built to rip.

Powered by a completely rebuilt and professionally modified engine, this CR125R received the full “wizard tune” from Devin Owe, one of our lead A-techs and a die-hard Honda two-stroke enthusiast. Starting with a pristine OEM engine case set, the motor was completely dismantled and rebuilt from the ground up with a brand new crankshaft, connecting rod, crank bearings, crank seals, shifter seal, kicker seal, and a brand new Hinson clutch basket and clutch assembly. The cylinder was professionally rebuilt and replated by Millennium Technologies with fresh Nikasil plating, while the ports and head were cleaned and polished for maximum performance and reliability.

The intake and exhaust package on this bike is absolutely next level. Feeding the engine is a V-Force reed valve system and an Electron carburetor setup that transforms the power delivery into something truly sinister. This bike absolutely barks through its full Pro Circuit exhaust system and stainless R304 shorty silencer, delivering that crisp factory-race-bike sound every two-stroke enthusiast dreams about. Combined with a fresh Twin Air filter and like-new airbox, this CR125 pulls unbelievably hard and feels far faster than any stock 125 you've ever ridden.

Cooling and reliability upgrades include oversized radiators, brand new GPI silicone radiator hoses, fresh coolant, serviced water pump, fresh gear oil, and meticulous attention to detail throughout the entire chassis. The suspension was fully serviced including rebuilt forks, greased linkage bearings, a new shock bumper, and inspection/service of all bearings and pivot points. The result is a chassis that feels tight, responsive, and race-ready.

One of the most special aspects of this build is that it retains its beautiful OEM factory appearance. Rather than polishing the frame and swingarm, Devin insisted on preserving the original anodized finish and factory details, including the original 2002 frame sticker still intact. The result is a stunning OEM-plus restoration that looks like a brand-new CR125R fresh out of a factory race shop in 2002.

This motorcycle came from a close friend and serious collector who owned an incredible lineup of Honda aluminum-frame conversions and rare race bikes. After his passing, we felt this CR deserved the absolute best treatment possible, and the finished product speaks for itself. It is museum quality while still being fully race-ready. Whether you want to line up at the gate on vintage race day, display it in a serious collection, or simply own one of the nastiest OEM-style CR125s around, this bike delivers.

The bike needs absolutely nothing. It starts easily, runs flawlessly, shifts perfectly, sounds incredible, and rides like a brand-new works bike. It is fast, responsive, lightweight, and unbelievably fun to ride.
