Guys, when you close your eyes and picture what a true classic Harley-Davidson should look like and sound like, this is it. Up for grabs is an absolutely stunning, highly collectible 1990 Harley-Davidson FLSTC Heritage Softail Classic — an original paint survivor that has been lovingly cared for by the same owner since new.
Finished in the gorgeous factory Turquoise and White two-tone paint scheme with matching fat whitewall tires, this Heritage Softail looks like it rolled straight out of a 1990 Harley-Davidson showroom. The bike spent most of its life cruising the Black Hills of South Dakota after the original Connecticut owner fell in love with Sturgis and relocated there. Unfortunately, after suffering a stroke, he can no longer ride, which is the only reason this incredible motorcycle is being offered for sale.
This is not your average dusty Craigslist Softail that “just needs a carb clean.” Over the last 500 miles alone, more than $7,000 in documented professional service work has been completed between the Harley-Davidson dealership and our shop here at Kaplan Cycles, plus an estimated $5,000+ in genuine Harley-Davidson upgrades and accessories. This bike has been massaged to perfection and it shows everywhere you look.
Powered by the legendary Evolution V-Twin engine — widely regarded as one of the most durable and reliable engines Harley-Davidson ever built — this Softail starts easily, runs beautifully, and sounds absolutely phenomenal through the upgraded Python exhaust system. These Evo-powered bikes are known to routinely surpass 200,000 miles when properly maintained, and with only 39,000 original miles, this one is just getting broken in.
The bike has been tastefully upgraded throughout with genuine Harley-Davidson chrome accessories and premium components including:
• Genuine Harley-Davidson chrome wheel set front and rear (less than 500 miles)
• New Harley-Davidson fat whitewall tires
• S&S Super E carburetor
• Python exhaust system
• Chrome inner and outer primary covers
• Chrome starter cover
• Chrome transmission cover
• Chrome cam cover
• Chrome master cylinders
• Chrome Harley-Davidson controls and levers
• Live to Ride / Ride to Live mirrors
• Triple headlight setup
• Chrome front caliper and caliper cover
• Chrome axle covers front and rear
• Chrome lower belt cover
• Chrome sprocket cover
• Chrome frame covers
• Genuine Harley-Davidson mini passenger floorboards
• Genuine Harley-Davidson rider floorboards with vibration isolation
• Chrome crash bars
• Harley-Davidson custom horn
• Harley-Davidson chrome gas cap covers
• Beautiful LaPera leather touring saddle
• Passenger backrest with pad
• New leather grips with chrome ends
• Polished fork lowers
• Brand new shifter pegs
The condition of this motorcycle is extremely impressive for a 35+ year old Harley. The original paint is beautiful and shines brilliantly. The frame rails are clean with no evidence of abuse or damage. The underside of the engine is remarkably clean and oil tight. This was clearly a lifelong passion bike, not some kid’s summer toy.
Much of the chrome is the original chrome and has some fading or pitting, still looks excellent, not brand new, it has the correct patina of an original mint survivor.
Recent documented service work completed less than 500 miles ago includes:
• Complete 3-hole fluid service
• Front and rear brake flush with fresh DOT 5 fluid
• Rear brake system rebuild
• Rear master cylinder rebuild
• Rear caliper rebuild
• New rear brake rotor and hardware
• Complete primary service with seals, gaskets, O-rings, and bearings
• New transmission sprocket kit
• New stator assembly
• Carburetor cleaning and service
• New ignition cam plate
• New battery
• New air filter
• New spark plugs
• New sealed beam headlight
• New circuit breaker
• New front brake light switch
• Fresh Red Line fluids
• Full detail shop rotisserie-level show detail including polishing and buffing of all chrome and painted surfaces
This Heritage Softail rides exactly the way a classic Harley should — smooth, torquey, comfortable, and full of soul. Whether you’re headed to bike night, Sturgis, a weekend cruise, or simply adding an investment-grade Evo Harley to your collection, this motorcycle checks every box.
Original paint Evo-era Harleys are becoming increasingly collectible, especially clean Heritage Softails and Fat Boy-era bikes from the early 1990s. Most were modified, repainted, neglected, or ridden into the ground. To find an original paint survivor in this condition with documented maintenance and tasteful period-correct upgrades is becoming extremely difficult.
