Description

1982 SUZUKI GS850G

Clean Original Black Paint Beauty

A Classic Sport Touring Legend

Fully Serviced, Tuned & Detailed

"One of the greatest sport-touring motorcycles ever built."

Up for sale is this exceptionally well-preserved 1982 Suzuki GS850G, a motorcycle widely regarded as one of the most durable, reliable, and comfortable sport-touring machines ever produced. If you're looking for a classic Japanese motorcycle that you can actually ride and enjoy, this GS850G deserves serious consideration.

I had the privilege of working at a Suzuki dealership when these bikes were new, and I remember taking them out on test rides. What impressed me then still impresses me today—these motorcycles are incredibly smooth, torquey, comfortable, and virtually vibration-free. They were engineered during Suzuki's golden era and built to cover serious miles with minimal maintenance.

Many GS850Gs have surpassed 100,000 miles with little more than routine service.

Their reputation for reliability is legendary.

Why the GS850G is Special

  • 850cc air-cooled inline four-cylinder engine

  • Ultra-smooth power delivery

  • Robust two-valve-per-cylinder design

  • Shaft drive for low-maintenance ownership

  • Triple-disc braking system

  • Upright ergonomic riding position

  • Comfortable all-day touring capability

  • Excellent wind protection and rider comfort

  • Proven long-distance reliability

The riding position is nearly perfect. The relationship between the handlebars, seat, and footpegs creates a relaxed upright posture that allows you to spend all day in the saddle.

This is the kind of motorcycle you can hop on and ride to Florida tomorrow.

Many of these bikes were converted into full touring machines with Windjammer fairings and luggage. Personally, I love them in their original stripped-down configuration. The bike looks aggressive and purposeful while retaining all the comfort of a true sport-tourer.

Original Survivor Condition

One of the highlights of this motorcycle is its stunning original factory black paint with gold pinstriping. Take a close look and you'll see that this appears to be the original finish, and it still shines beautifully after more than four decades.

The bike shows no evidence of having been crashed or abused. It spent its life ridden by a carefull rider interested in preserving it. Unlike many high-performance Japanese bikes of the era that were modified, raced, or neglected, this GS850G remains remarkably original.

Extensive Mechanical Service

This motorcycle has undergone a comprehensive service and preparation process totaling approximately 30 hours of professional shop labor.

Recent service includes:

  • Carburetors completely disassembled, rebuilt, & re-jetted

  • New air filter

  • New engine oil and filter service

  • New shaft-drive oil

  • New brake hydraulic fluid

  • New battery

  • New tachometer cable installed

  • New fork seals & Oil

  • Progressive Suspension Shock Upgrade

  • New front tire

  • Metzeler Lasertec rear tire with approximately 90% tread remaining

  • Complete rotisserie detail

  • Hand wash, polish, and wax

  • Travelcade Seat Cover

The tachometer functions but exhibits a needle bounce despite installation of a new cable.

We wanted to disclose this for complete transparency.

JUST FULLY SERVICED, TUNED & DETAILED COST $4,800

The service performed on this motorcycle represents a substantial investment:

  • 30 Hours Professional Labor @ $150/hr = $4,500

  • Parts and Materials = $300

Total Service Investment: $4,800

The result is a classic Suzuki that is ready to be enjoyed immediately and is capable of long-distance riding with confidence.
