RARE BRITISH SUPERBIKE! BEAUTIFUL RESTORED COSMETICS, ORIGINAL COMPONENTS, TRIPLE AMAL CARBURETORS, AND OVER $5,700 IN RECENT PAINT AND SERVICE VALUE!
FEAST YOUR EYES ON THE CLASS OF 1974!
Up for auction is this absolutely stunning 1974 Triumph Trident T150V 750 Triple, one of the most iconic British superbikes ever produced and a magnificent example of the golden age of European high-performance motorcycles!
With just 3,167 miles showing on the odometer, this remarkable Triumph combines its original engine, original exhaust, original wheels, original gauges, and an exceptionally well-preserved collection of factory components with a gorgeous, professionally applied metallic green paint job accented by elegant gold pinstriping.
This is not a ground-up restoration or a heavily modified custom motorcycle. It is a remarkably original, low-mileage classic that has benefited from extensive cosmetic attention and a comprehensive mechanical service performed by the professionals here at Kaplan Cycles and the New England Motorcycle Museum.
The bike runs excellent, sounds fantastic, and starts remarkably easily with its traditional kickstarter!
And best of all, this motorcycle was generously donated to the New England Motorcycle Museum, with proceeds from its sale helping support the museum's continued operation and preservation of historic motorcycles.
THE LEGENDARY TRIUMPH TRIDENT 750 TRIPLE
When Triumph introduced the Trident, it represented a major step forward from the company's legendary Bonneville twin.
The Trident featured a sophisticated three-cylinder, four-stroke engine that produced approximately 58 horsepower in factory trim, delivering higher-revving performance, additional power, and a uniquely exciting exhaust note.
This was British engineering at its finest!
Triumph's three-cylinder racing machines became legends on some of the world's most demanding circuits, particularly the Isle of Man TT. Triumph and BSA three-cylinder racing machines achieved tremendous success during this era, including five consecutive Formula 750 TT victories from 1971 through 1975.
The Trident earned its place among the great superbikes of the 1970s and remains one of the most desirable classic British motorcycles to collect, ride, and display.
This particular example is the desirable T150V five-speed model, a substantial improvement over the earlier four-speed Tridents. It even retains its distinctive five-speed identification decal on the rear fender!

Take a close look at the finish on this Trident!
The fuel tank and painted components have received a magnificent metallic green finish complemented by beautifully executed gold pinstriping.

The metallic green has tremendous depth and brilliance, and the gold accents perfectly complement the classic Triumph styling.
This is a professional-quality paint job that would Cost over $2,500 to duplicate.
The motorcycle also retains an impressive amount of its original factory character, including the original engine, exhaust, wheels, instrumentation, and numerous other components.
A new reproduction front fender has been installed, and the bike features tasteful bar-end mirrors and new handlebar grips.

The overall presentation is outstanding. Whether displayed in a private collection, showcased at a vintage motorcycle show, or enjoyed on the open road, this Triumph is guaranteed to attract attention!

This wasn't a neglected barn find that required major engine rebuilding. This was an extremely low-mileage classic that needed the careful, professional attention that a 52-year-old motorcycle deserves.
The result is a Triumph Triple that starts easily, runs beautifully, and delivers the unmistakable sound and character of a vintage British three-cylinder superbike!
COMPREHENSIVE COSMETIC DETAILING
Following its mechanical service, this beautiful Triumph was sent to our professional detailing department for an extensive top-to-bottom cosmetic reconditioning.

Complete professional motorcycle detailing
-
Repainting the swingarm

The results speak for themselves!
The chrome sparkles, the aluminum looks fantastic, the engine cases shine, and the metallic green paint absolutely glows.
Combined with the estimated $2,500 paint job, the recent mechanical work and paint represent approximately $5,750 in service and paint value, not including the motorcycle itself!
STARTS FIRST KICK – RUNS AND SOUNDS EXCELLENT!
One of the best things about this particular Trident is how easily it starts.
These classic British triples are kickstart-only motorcycles, and proper carburetor and ignition adjustment are essential to making them start and run correctly.
This one is dialed in beautifully!
Simply turn on the original fuel petcocks, use the carburetor ticklers as needed, turn on the ignition, and give it a proper kick.
It routinely fires on the first kick!
The engine has excellent throttle response, smooth three-cylinder power delivery, and that legendary Triumph Triple exhaust note.
All three cylinders have even compression, the ignition system has been thoroughly serviced, and the carburetors have been professionally rebuilt and synchronized.
This is exactly how a properly sorted vintage Trident should sound and perform.
IMPORTANT CONDITION DISCLOSURES – PLEASE READ
We believe in representing our motorcycles accurately and transparently.
Although this motorcycle is exceptionally attractive and runs very well, it is still a 52-year-old vintage British motorcycle and is not represented as a flawless, fully restored, oil-tight machine.
Engine oil seepage: The engine retains its original gaskets and currently exhibits some oil seepage around the cylinder base gasket and cylinder head area. It is not leaving a significant puddle beneath the motorcycle, but there is visible oil leakage.
This is not unusual for vintage British motorcycles of this era, especially examples with their original engine gaskets.
Our mechanics evaluated the situation and recommended monitoring the oil level and enjoying the motorcycle rather than undertaking an engine disassembly solely to address minor seepage.
The engine could potentially be resealed, but that would involve additional labor and expense. Because this motorcycle was donated to benefit the New England Motorcycle Museum, we elected to preserve its original mechanical integrity rather than perform an unnecessary major teardown.
Turn signal: At the time of inspection, one turn signal was not operating. Our technician was planning to investigate the issue, which may be as simple as a bulb. Unless otherwise confirmed before the sale, buyers should consider this an outstanding item requiring attention.
Originality: The motorcycle retains its original engine and many factory components, but it has received a repaint, replacement front fender, new grips, bar-end mirrors, tires, and other normal service items. It should not be confused with a completely untouched original-paint survivor.
Mileage: The odometer displays 3,167 miles, which is consistent with the motorcycle's overall condition and history as represented to us. Mileage should be independently verified to the buyer's satisfaction.
