Description

1974 Kawasaki G3SS-D 90 – 1,892 Original Miles – Original Paint Survivor – Fully Serviced – Rotary Valve Two-Stroke

A true time capsule from Kawasaki's golden era of two-strokes.

Offered here is an exceptionally original 1974 Kawasaki G3SS-D 90, built in December of 1973, showing just 1,892 original miles. Finding one of these lightweight Kawasaki two-strokes in this condition is becoming extraordinarily difficult. Most G3SS models were purchased by young riders and ridden hard until they disappeared. This example escaped that fate, spending its life in a collector's ownership and being stored indoors, preserving its originality for more than five decades.

This is an original paint survivor that retains the vast majority of its factory components, making it an outstanding candidate for any serious Kawasaki collection.

Legendary Rotary Valve Performance

The G3SS may be Kawasaki's smallest full-size street motorcycle of the era, but don't let its displacement fool you. Equipped with Kawasaki's legendary rotary valve induction system and a Mikuni carburetor, this 90cc two-stroke delivers performance that far exceeds what most riders expect.

The rotary valve induction gives the engine exceptional throttle response and surprisingly strong acceleration, allowing this little Kawasaki to punch well above its weight class. It offers far more excitement than virtually any 90cc four-stroke of its day while maintaining excellent fuel economy and remarkable reliability.

Sharing styling cues with Kawasaki's larger performance machines—including the S1 250/350, H1 500, and H2 750—the G3SS provided riders an affordable entry into the Kawasaki two-stroke family.

Comprehensive Mechanical Service

Although highly original, this motorcycle has received an extensive preservation and mechanical service to ensure it performs as well as it presents.

Mechanical work includes:

  • Compression tested at an excellent 145 PSI

  • Carburetor completely rebuilt with new jets, gaskets, and float

  • Fuel tank cleaned and serviced (previously professionally sealed)

  • New fuel petcock installed (Two Positions Only; OFF Or ON)

  • New fuel lines and inline fuel filter

  • New spark plug

  • Oil injection system inspected and verified to be operating correctly

  • Rear wheel bearings replaced

  • Ignition coil connector replaced

  • Electrical system inspected

  • Lights and horn tested

  • Brakes inspected and adjusted

  • Transmission shifts smoothly

  • Engine, clutch, and crankshaft operate beautifully

This motorcycle starts easily, idles cleanly, shifts properly, and runs exactly as a properly sorted rotary valve Kawasaki should.

Cosmetic Preservation

Rather than over-restoring this motorcycle, our goal was to preserve its originality while presenting it at its absolute best.

The motorcycle then received an extensive cosmetic preservation and detail service including:

  • Complete frame-up rotisserie detail

  • Engine covers professionally polished to a mirror finish

  • Cylinder refinished

  • Cylinder head refinished

  • Fork lowers refinished

  • Swingarm refinished

The motorcycle shows beautifully while maintaining the character and authenticity collectors appreciate.

Original Paint Survivor

One of this motorcycle's greatest strengths is its originality.

The tank retains its factory original paint, which naturally shows honest signs of age after more than five decades.

Imperfections include:

  • Small ding on each side of the fuel tank

  • Minor touched-up area

  • Interior of the tank was previously sealed by a former owner and is cosmetically bumpy & unattractive but functions properly with no leaks

These imperfections are documented honestly and simply reflect the motorcycle's originality.

Our service department invested:

  • 26 hours of professional shop labor

  • 15 hours of cosmetic detailing

  • $508 in new parts

Total restoration and preservation investment exceeded $4,400, not including the purchase price or transportation to our museum.

Every motorcycle we sell receives the same careful attention because we stand behind what we offer.

Why Buy This G3SS?

Whether you're adding to a Kawasaki collection, displaying it in a museum, or simply looking for one of the most enjoyable lightweight vintage two-strokes ever produced, this G3SS is ready to enjoy.

It starts easily, runs beautifully, shifts perfectly, and has far more performance than most riders expect from a 90cc motorcycle.
