Description

1971 HONDA CB350 SUPER SPORT

GORGEOUS ORIGINAL CANDY RIVIERA BLUE EXAMPLE

FULLY SERVICED • EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION

Very well-preserved 1971 Honda CB350, one of the motorcycles that helped redefine the motorcycle industry.

When Honda introduced machines like the CB350, the formula was hard for the traditional European and American manufacturers to compete with: lightweight construction, strong performance, excellent fuel economy, affordable ownership, electric-start convenience, and legendary Honda reliability. More than five decades later, clean original examples have become increasingly difficult to find.

This motorcycle is a 55-year-old original, unrestored survivor retaining its original paint, original chrome, original seat cover, original grips, original levers, original gauges, original lighting equipment, original fenders, original wheels, original exhaust system, original fuel tank and badges, and an extraordinary amount of its factory equipment.

This is not a freshly restored motorcycle trying to look old. This is the real thing.

The original fuel tank is one of the highlights of the motorcycle. It remains remarkably straight, with no significant dents or damage visible on either side. The original paint still presents beautifully and retains an excellent shine.

There are several small age-related marks and areas of patina, as should be expected on an unrestored 55-year-old motorcycle. We deliberately chose not to repaint or cosmetically restore these areas because preserving the motorcycle's authenticity was more important.

The original chrome trim along the lower edge of the tank has developed an attractive golden patina with age. The original Honda tank badges remain in excellent condition.

The side covers show some expected fading, and the original headlight bucket finish has also faded slightly over the decades, but these are genuine original components rather than reproduction replacements.

Finding an original fuel tank this straight after more than half a century is remarkable. It is like carrying an egg around for 55 years without cracking it.

EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN FUEL SYSTEM

One of the most important things to inspect on any vintage motorcycle is the inside of the fuel tank.

This CB350 was stored indoors, and the inside of the tank is in excellent condition with no major rust contamination.

The fuel system has been serviced extensively, including:

  • Fuel tank flushed and cleaned

  • Fresh premium VP fuel

  • New fuel lines

  • New inline fuel filters

  • Carburetor float bowls cleaned

  • Carburetor floats inspected and cleaned

  • New float bowl gaskets

  • Airbox cleaned and serviced

  • Carburetors serviced and properly tuned

The motorcycle looks and runs excellent.

FULL PRESERVATION SERVICE

Rather than cosmetically restoring this motorcycle and erasing its originality, our technicians performed what we call a Preservation Service.

Approximately 30 hours of professional shop labor have been invested into inspecting, servicing, cleaning, detailing and preparing this motorcycle.

At our current shop labor rate of $195 per hour, that represents approximately $5,850 in professional labor alone, before parts and materials.

Service and preparation included:

  • Complete mechanical inspection

  • Carburetor service

  • Fuel system service

  • Fresh engine oil

  • New battery

  • New tires

  • New drive chain

  • New fuel lines

  • New fuel filters

  • New carburetor float bowl gaskets

  • Airbox cleaned and serviced

  • Electrical system inspected

  • Lights checked

  • Turn signals checked

  • Horn checked

  • Brakes inspected and adjusted

  • Clutch inspected and adjusted

  • Transmission operation checked

  • Complete steam cleaning

  • Hand washing and detailing

  • Full rotisserie-style detail and preservation treatment

The motorcycle has been tuned properly and runs excellent.

MECHANICAL CONDITION

The CB350 operates exactly the way a properly serviced example should.

The clutch works smoothly, the transmission shifts properly, the brakes work well, and the motorcycle runs strong.

All major electrical equipment is functional, including:

  • Headlight

  • Tail light

  • Turn signals

  • Horn

  • Gauges

The original gauges remain remarkably bright, crisp and attractive.

ORIGINAL COMPONENTS

This motorcycle retains an impressive amount of original equipment, including:

  • Original fuel tank

  • Original paint

  • Original Honda tank badges

  • Original chrome fenders

  • Original wheels

  • Original turn signals

  • Original headlight

  • Original headlight bucket

  • Original gauges

  • Original handlebars

  • Original grips

  • Original control levers

  • Original seat cover

  • Original exhaust system

  • Original airbox

  • Original center stand

  • Original frame and chassis components

The rear shocks have been replaced with high-quality reproduction units that closely duplicate the appearance of the original Honda shocks and feature beautiful chrome finishes.

The side stand and center stand have been refinished, and selected areas of the frame rails and swingarm have received careful cosmetic touch-up as part of the preservation process.

WHY BUY A REAL CLASSIC?

There are plenty of modern motorcycles being built today to imitate the appearance and personality of vintage motorcycles.

This Honda doesn't imitate anything.

It is the motorcycle those modern retro machines are attempting to recreate.

Instead of buying a newly manufactured retro motorcycle, you can own a genuine 1971 Honda CB350 with authentic history, original paint, original chrome, classic Honda engineering and increasing collector appeal.

Clean, original, unrestored examples become more difficult to locate every year.

This is the kind of motorcycle that can be ridden, displayed, enjoyed, preserved and passed along to the next generation.

ABOUT THE HONDA CB350

The Honda CB350 became one of the defining motorcycles of its generation. Its lightweight chassis, willing parallel-twin engine, excellent reliability and everyday usability helped Honda establish itself as one of the dominant motorcycle manufacturers in America.

These motorcycles proved that a relatively small-displacement machine could be fast, economical, dependable and enjoyable enough to use every day.

Today, the CB350 remains one of the most recognizable and collectible Hondas from the company's golden era.

Thank you for looking, and God Bless America.

PLEASE NOTE

This is a 55-year-old vintage motorcycle being sold as a collectible used vehicle. While it has been extensively inspected, serviced and prepared, vintage motorcycles inherently require more frequent maintenance, inspection and adjustment than modern motorcycles.

The motorcycle retains original finishes and therefore exhibits minor cosmetic imperfections, fading and patina consistent with age. We consider these characteristics part of the motorcycle's originality and collector appeal.

Please review all photographs carefully and contact us with any questions prior to purchase.
