Description
1970 HONDA Z50AK1 Mini Trail
Concours Frame-Off Restoration
Investment Grade Museum Quality Collectible
Spectacular Candy Ruby Red & Cloud Silver Beauty
Absolutely stunning 1970 Honda Z50AK1 Mini Trail, professionally restored to concours-level standards and presented in what can only be described as showroom-new condition.
If you've followed Kaplan Cycles over the years, you may remember one of our first major motorcycle collection purchases—a tractor-trailer load of approximately 67 Honda minis that we hauled back from Florida well before our YouTube channel became what it is today. Since then, we've owned and sold countless Honda Mini Trails from nearly every year and variation produced.
This one stands above them all.
This motorcycle comes from the private collection of our friend Greg in Michigan, a longtime Honda enthusiast who assembled an impressive collection of classic Hondas. As he began downsizing, we acquired seven of his motorcycles, including this spectacular Z50AK1. Every bike in the collection was restored to an exceptionally high standard, and this Mini Trail is no exception.
Concours-Level Frame-Off Restoration
Anyone familiar with vintage motorcycle restoration understands the level of craftsmanship, labor, and expense required to restore a Honda Mini Trail to this standard. Today, finding a shop capable of performing a restoration like this is difficult enough—and would take 50 hours of shop labor at current shop rates of $150 Per Hour = $7,500 Plus Parts and supplies!
Every nut, bolt, component, and assembly on this motorcycle has been carefully restored, rebuilt, refinished, or replaced as required.

Condition
This motorcycle is what we call a "no excuses" bike.
Everything functions exactly as it should. The motorcycle starts easily, runs beautifully, shifts properly, and performs like a brand-new Honda Mini Trail.
The paint quality is outstanding. The chrome is exceptional. The polished aluminum components—including the engine covers, cylinder head cover, fork assemblies, and triple clamps—present beautifully.
From the fenders to the taillight, from the wheels to the exhaust system, every detail reflects the level of restoration performed.
Collector and Investment Grade
The Honda Z50 Mini Trail is one of the most recognizable and collectible motorcycles Honda ever produced. Values continue to climb as collectors seek out properly restored, investment-quality examples.
Multiple examples in this condition have sold for over $9,000 at auction
This particular bike was born in December of 1969 and represents one of the finest restored examples we've had the pleasure of offering.
Whether you're adding it to a serious Honda collection, displaying it in a museum-quality setting, or purchasing it as a gift for someone special, this Z50AK1 is worthy of the most discriminating collector.
